PARKROYAL Penang Resort
Guestrooms & Suites, Malaysia

The resort guestrooms were redesigned using a simple yet warm palette. Originally, each room featured a balcony oriented to face the sea. Over the years, these balconies were enclosed, resulting in awkward interior geometries. To address this, we introduced Pinang screens to layer the space and restore the guestrooms to a more rectangular layout. A daybed was added in the reclaimed area, intended to evoke a semi-outdoor atmosphere within the semi-screened space. The daybed is also sized to serve as an additional bed, a feature that has proven popular with families.
