Screen House
Residential, Singapore
The Screen House is a home for a multi-generational family with young children, located within a dense residential neighbourhood. Despite the compact footprint, the design carves out substantial green spaces to create a garden home atmosphere. The residential wings are arranged around a large lawn where the children can enjoy pitching tents, playing with lanterns and running around, while the rest of the family relaxes in other various living spaces.
Tall bamboo planting serves as a green backdrop that creates greater privacy away the neighbour. Pocket gardens are planted with giant leaves alocasias and monsteras, combined with heliconias, umbrella and frangipani trees to create a textured tropical garden. These spaces are inserted between residential wings and along view axes such living spaces are always flanked by greenery. Bi-fold doors allow interior spaces to fully open up to the various gardens and allow for amply cross-ventilation.
