Strategically located in the Museum Planning District at an important confluence of Fort Canning Hill, the Arts & Entertainment district and at the start of the shopping belt, the new YMCA envisions a dynamic reimagining of community in Orchard Road.

The existing building, built in the 80s is still robust will be mostly kept. This is a key fiscal and environmental decision - to minimise carbon footprint as well as to keep financial responsibility as YMCA is an IPC dedicated to good works.

The new design will completely reorganise and reimagine the functions within showcasing community functions by bringing them to the forefront, activating the street edge and the key pedestrian ground plane.

The porous building frontage is punctuated with activity-generating uses, transforming the development to a physically- and visually-permeable urban node which enhances the dynamic streetscape of the Museum Planning Area.
