PLUME
Bar, Singapore

PLUME is the hotel bar at Pan Pacific Singapore. Located within an immense 37-storey atrium, the task was to create a unique identity that contrasts yet complements the rejuvenated hotel lobby. The original brief called for only an update to the weary bar finishes. However, we keenly felt that the bar was too open and exposed – visually, spatially as well as acoustically – the slightest clink and noise from the bar reverberating throughout the atrium. We sought to rethink the approach to designing a hotel lobby bar — a contradictory creature, born of perceived necessity, yet often struggling to maintain its identity and appeal as a destination.
